The VLA curriculum for Second Grade students has been customized to meet the needs of young students. Even so, young students, some with weak technological skills, will need daily guidance and assistance to reach their full potential as they work to complete the program. It is absolutely necessary that all second grade students have Adult Mentors, on site, to assist & coach them.

The core of each Language Arts lesson is the impressive array of rich children’s literature that students are required to read. The books are the most important instructive element in the lesson. Therefore, it is an absolute necessity that the correct books are on hand for each lesson. The books are listed in order by lesson, and we suggest that you obtain the books well ahead of time. They are available at your public library.
